Strasburg Impressive in Return
Stephen Strasburg appeared in his first major league game last night since undergoing Tommy John surgery. Strasburg looked like he had no time off from the majors in that game against the Dodgers. He allowed two hits, while having a five inning shutout. Strasburg threw 60 pitches with 40 strikes. The former 1st pick even scored the first run of his career in the second inning.
Strasburg seemed to be in great shape, and has recovered well from his injury. He did not hold back throwing pitches in the high 90′s. Strasburg is not just satisfied with making a successful return, he intends to continue to improve. “I’m still on a mission here. I wanted to get stronger, mentally and physically, through this process. I had something that I wanted to work on every single day. I didn’t waste a minute waiting for this time to come, because I knew it was going to come sooner or later.” He said after the game.
The Nationals still were not able to get the win, and blew the lead once Strasburg left the game. They suffered a 7-3 loss to the Los Angles Dodgers.
